A ship radio station comprises a suite of radio transmitting and receiving equipment installed on a vessel to meet the requirements of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). It primarily consists of an International Maritime Satellite Earth Station (Inmarsat-SES) and Very High Frequency/Medium Frequency/High Frequency (VHF/MF/HF) communication equipment.
In accordance with the *Technical Rules for the Statutory Survey of Domestic Seagoing Ships* and the *Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Radio Administration*, a ship radio station must hold a radio station license issued by the competent authority; furthermore, technical parameters-such as the equipment model and power output-must strictly align with the specifications approved in the license.
This system is required to perform functions such as distress alerting, search and rescue coordination communications, and the broadcasting of maritime safety information. Specifically, the VHF equipment operates within the 156–174 MHz frequency band, and its transmission power must not exceed 25 watts.
