Introduction to DMR Two-Way Radios

DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) walkie-talkies are professional wireless communication devices based on the digital mobile radio standard established by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI)-a standard approved in 2005. DMR employs Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology to divide a 12.5 kHz channel into two time slots, thereby enabling two simultaneous communication paths on a single frequency and enhancing spectrum efficiency.

Supporting both voice and data transmission, these devices offer various operating modes-including direct mode, repeater mode, and trunking-and are primarily utilized in sectors such as public safety, transportation, utilities, and industry and commerce. Leading brands of DMR walkie-talkies currently available on the market include Motorola and Hytera.
